Ruffle Cuff

My biggest pet peeve surrounding St. Patty's holiday is that some people feel the need, or think they have the right, to pinch me if I'm not wearing green. Apparently, my son's green snot on my shirt does not count. This year I plan to ward off the pinchers with a 'No Pinching' cuff. So, if you're thinking about pinching me, I suggest you wear a cuff stating, 'No Biting,' because I will bite if you pinch me.

Materials: 1" x 8" white scrap fabric, 2" x 16" scrap green fabric, scissors, white thread, sewing machine, green embroidery thread, needle, snaps, pencil, iron (optional)

Cut the white strip of fabric in half lengthwise. Using a pencil, write 'No Pinching' centered on the right side of one strip of white fabric. Some other popular options: 'Lucky,' 'Kiss me I'm Irish,' 'I don't have any gold.'

Thread a needle with green embroidery thread and tie a knot at one end. Stitch over the penciled letters.

Once the letters are stitched, pin the two strips of white fabric together, wrong side out. Hey look… it says 'No Pinching' on one side and something in Arabic on the other.

Sew a straight stitch around 3 sides of the white fabric. Turn right side out and press with an iron.

Fold the fourth edge in and hand sew closed.

Sew the green fabric into a ruffle just like I do here.

Center the white fabric on top of the ruffled green fabric. Pin in place at the ends. Sew a straight stitch at each pinned location.

Attach one snap as per the instructions on the snap package. Don't be scared. It's very simple.

So which team are you on: the Pinchers or the Defensive Biters?

The Real Deal: It cost me less than $1.00 to make this cuff.

Check out my other cuffs.
